# configure

> Update non-agent Entire settings in the current repository, such as telemetry, Git hook installation mode, strategy options, and the summary provider.

Update non-agent Entire settings in the current repository: telemetry, Git hook installation mode, strategy options, and the summary provider. Agent hook installation is handled by [`entire agent`](/cli-reference/agent). Running `entire configure` with no flags prints its help.

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `--absolute-git-hook-path` | Embed full binary path in Git hooks. Required for GUI Git clients that don't source shell profiles. See [GUI Git Clients](/guides/configuration/git-hooks.md#gui-git-clients). |
| `--checkpoint-backend BACKEND` | Set checkpoint storage to `refs` (one Git ref per checkpoint) or `branch` (one shared branch). |
| `--checkpoint-remote PROVIDER:OWNER/REPO` | Push checkpoint data to a separate repository. `PROVIDER` is `github` or `gitlab`, as in `github:org/checkpoints-private`. See [Checkpoint Remote](/guides/checkpoints/store-checkpoints-in-another-repo.md). |
| `-f, --force` | Force reinstall the Entire Git hook |
| `--local` | Write settings to `.entire/settings.local.json` instead of `.entire/settings.json` |
| `--project` | Write settings to `.entire/settings.json` even if it already exists |
| `--skip-push-sessions` | Disable automatic pushing of session logs on Git push |
| `--summarize-model MODEL` | Set the model hint used by `checkpoint explain --generate` |
| `--summarize-provider PROVIDER` | Set the provider used by `checkpoint explain --generate`. Requires an installed agent that supports text generation. |
| `--summarize-timeout-seconds N` | Set the hard deadline in seconds for `checkpoint explain --generate`. `0` clears the setting, leaving summary generation unbounded. |
| `--telemetry` | Enable anonymous usage analytics (default: true) |

Use `entire agent remove NAME` to uninstall hooks for a specific agent.
